Lynn Eberhardt with Oak Ridge National Laboratory wrote,

"Oak Ridge National Laboratory is seeking best practices regarding use of telecommuting.  In general we would like to execute a broadened telecommuting plan that addresses several potential topics: staff motivation, preparedness for potential pandemics or natural disasters, energy and sustainability, space compaction, parking compaction, and like topics.  If you have telecommuting program experience that you feel would help us establish a broadened program, please provide input either through addressing the following questions or contacting Lynn Eberhardt (865-574-3916, eberhardtl@ornl.gov ) directly."

1. What is your criteria for accepting staff into a telecommuting program?
2. How do you address safety and health at their telecommuting location?
3. What is your criteria to terminate a telecommuting arrangement?
4. In addition to the employees place of residence what other locations are acceptable for telecommuting?
5. In what way has telecommuting effectively impacted: on-site space requirements, parking requirements, energy consumption, other?
6. Is the number of telecommuters increasing? Decreasing? Same? About how many people telecommute?
7. What computer support, both in provided hardware and resolution of problems, are provided by the company to the telecommuting employee?
8. What ‘hoteling’ or other accommodations are made for the telecommuting individual when they need to work ‘in office’?
