This will be the 13th annual IAMFA facility management survey of cultural institutions. The Survey collects

  • data on performance measurements,

  • best practices and industry trends that can be used to make more effective decisions on the planning, designing and managing of museums and art institutions.

In the last 13 years, over 155 institutions from nine countries have participated in this learning exercise.

Annual Conference
The 22nd Annual Conference will be held September 16-19, 2012 in Philadelphia, PA.  Co-sponsors include: Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rodin Museum, National Museum of American Jewish History, Barnes Foundation, Delaware Art Museum, Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library, Hagley Museum and Library, and Longwood Gardens.

The IAMFA 22nd Annual Conference will be held September 16-19 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA. Co-hosts include: the Philadelphia Art Museum, Delaware Art Museum, Hagley Museum and Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library.

Some tips for successful benchmarking:

  • Realize that you will be best in some areas but not everything

  • Learning must be continuous

  • Learning from others is faster – and therefore smarter – than starting from scratch

  • Measuring and improving performance must be a priority

  • You can always find the money for something that’s a priority

The best organizations today, our organizational role models, are those that use benchmarking and use it well.
